Community Garden

Help Plant the Seed and Watch Us Grow…

Our vision is to design and plant a green space that will include a vegetable & herb garden, citrus trees, walking paths and an area for our staff and the people we serve to gather.

Not only beautiful, this garden will enable our clients to learn how to plant, grow and care for the garden as well as reap the benefits of new skills, being outdoors and preparing and cooking with healthy food.

Our Progress

What’s the Plan?

Our Community Garden is a multi-phase project that will allow us to bridge the gap between our community and the Coastal Center for Developmental Services. The various stages will grow over the years in collaboration with community partners and activists interested in making a difference in many individuals’ lives. We will grow fruits, vegetables, herbs as well as many other decorative and educational plants and also use the space for relaxation and fun!

The Impact

Not only will the Community Garden be a beautiful addition to our campus, it will produce food, jobs and educational opportunities for our individuals and the community. The food grown in the garden will be used locally in dishes that Quantum Catering prepares and also sold locally in area Farmer’s Markets.

Tending to the garden will create a few full-time jobs for adults with developmental disabilities and we will also have areas to help with rehabilitation for individuals in our Day Habilitation Program. If that were not enough, we will also use the garden for community outreach and education for all who are interested.
